Avi joined Redstone after graduating magna cum laude from Amherst College with a double major in political science and Spanish. At Amherst, Avi helped foster a culture of constructive engagement—whether as Head Tour Guide, coaching guides to handle difficult questions from prospective families; as Hillel president, leading inclusive programming that drew in diverse corners of the student body; or as a Democracy Fellow, facilitating community discussions about controversial current events. His coursework at Amherst and while studying abroad in Buenos Aires focused on contemporary politics across the Americas. His senior thesis, written entirely in Spanish, is a biography of his Hungarian grandmother—a Holocaust survivor who became a pioneering hematologist in Argentina—based on testimonial interviews and historical research on regimes, sociocultural movements, medicine, and gender roles.
Professionally, Avi has worked as a summer intern at Justice Innovation Lab, a data-driven criminal justice nonprofit; as a research intern at Flip the Vote, analyzing swing-state electoral landscapes; and on a California state senate campaign. In college, he captained the ski team, directed his acapella group, and played jazz bass. Originally from Oakland, California, Avi loves all things outdoors and is a New York Times Games enthusiast.
