Ivan Barkhorn
Managing Director
During 25 years of strategy consulting, Ivan has served a broad portfolio of clients—including Sony, Hewlett-Packard, Citibank, and IBM—in industries ranging from private equity investment and consumer electronics to conservation and economic development.
Before founding Redstone Strategy Group, Ivan spent the first eleven years of his consulting career with McKinsey & Company. As a McKinsey partner he specialized in strategy, with a sub-specialty in marketing for consumer electronics and durable goods, and served clients from both the New York and Tokyo offices. More recently Ivan has continued strategy work in several industries, including telecommunications and private equity. During his consulting career, Ivan has helped raise the value of client companies by over $500 million.
In recent years, Ivan has also worked extensively to ensure that conservation and economic development programs throughout the world—in places such as Brazil, British Columbia, Peru, Bolivia, Madagascar, and Nepal—meet the highest management, strategic, and financial standards. He is co-teaching a course on this subject at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Science. Ivan holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management and lives with his wife in Boulder, Colorado.
Lawrence H. Linden
Senior Advisor
Larry is an Advisory Director and former General Partner at Goldman Sachs who serves as a pro bono Senior Advisor to Redstone on conservation- and economic-development-related engagements. Before joining Goldman Sachs, Larry was a partner at McKinsey & Co., where he worked in the industrial, technology and financial sectors. Larry has worked on conservation strategy issues around the world, including Latin America, Asia, Africa, and the United States. Most recently he led the joint Goldman Sachs/Wildlife Conservation Society project creating a very large nature reserve on the island of Tierra del Fuego.
Larry has a PhD from MIT and a BSE from Princeton and is a member of the Board of Directors of the World Wildlife Fund. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Resources for the Future and co-teaches a class at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Science on conservation strategy. At MIT he is a member of the Visiting Committees for the Engineering Systems Division and the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. He lives with his wife and two children in New York City.
Dietmar Grimm
Senior Project Manager
Dietmar manages client projects and leads the development of analytical modeling and research at Redstone. For example, he led the creation of strategic modeling of back-end operations for a large European cable company. In addition, he drove the development of an optimization model used in financial planning for one of the largest conservation programs in the world.
Prior to his tenure at Redstone, Dietmar was a consultant for three years with McKinsey & Company in the San Francisco and Munich offices. His work at McKinsey focused on corporate finance and marketing, particularly in high-tech companies. At McKinsey, Dietmar was one of a select few individuals at his tenure awarded the opportunity for a short-term transfer to a foreign office.
Dietmar holds a BA with distinction from the University of Colorado where he was a Presidents Leadership Class scholar and Phi Beta Kappa member. He and his wife live in Boulder, Colorado. Dietmar is fluent in German and proficient in French.
Lee Green
Project Manager
Lee has deep experience in scenario-based analytical modeling. For example, his project experience includes building spectrum valuation models for North American wireless operators in preparation for US and Canadian wireless spectrum auctions. Before joining Redstone, Lee was a consultant for four years at NASDAQ-listed DiamondCluster International, where he specialized in increasing client profitability through analyses of customer behavior.
Lee graduated cum laude from Harvard University with a BA in economics and received his MBA from the Yale School of Management. At Harvard, Lee was awarded a Harvard College Scholarship for academic excellence. While in business school Lee served as a Teaching Assistant for senior faculty teaching three courses: Decision Analysis and Game Theory; Hypothesis Testing and Regression; and Nonprofit Entrepreneurship.
James Woody
Associate Project Manager
James holds an MBA from the Yale School of Management, and a BA from the University of Virginia. While at Yale, he was named a Coca-Cola World Fellow and received top honors in Strategy, Economics, and Negotiation. While at Virginia, James was awarded a Distinguished Major for his work in international trade, environmental ethics, and Latin-American studies. His undergraduate thesis was an analysis of the political and ethical debates surrounding environmental campaigns in Central America.
Prior to joining Redstone, James operated a software company that specialized in educational products for developing country applications, and advised for-profit education companies on strategy and development in the developing world. James is business-functional in Spanish, and is conversational in French.
Judd Boomhower
Associate
Before joining Redstone, Judd worked on a Fulbright Scholarship in Venezuela's Los Roques Archipelago National Park, where he studied the ecology of coral reef fishes. Previous to his Fulbright experience, he was a research fellow at Environmental Defense, where he analyzed marine conservation issues in U.S. fisheries.
Judd has a BA and an MS from Stanford University. His undergraduate thesis resulted in a method to quantify the success of Costa Rica's Payments for Environmental Services Program in reducing deforestation, and has been published in the journal Conservation Biology. At Stanford Judd was the recipient of the Lokey Stanford Environmental Fellowship and played for the national-championship-winning men's ultimate Frisbee team. He is fluent in Spanish.
Audrey Davenport
Associate
Audrey joins Redstone after a recent stint in Malaysia as a Fulbright Scholar working on marine protected areas. Previously she worked on environmental issues at both Google (as a summer intern on the Green Business Team) and at The Nature Conservancy in San Francisco.
Audrey earned her BA at Stanford University, and is currently enrolled as a joint Master’s degree candidate at the Yale School of Management and the School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. She is a Beinecke Academic Scholar at Yale, an avid photographer and cook, and a Colorado native.
Tim Magee
Operations Research Specialist
Tim has 20 years of experience in developing and applying optimization in a variety of applications. He is expert in non-linear and linear programming. His projects have included asset allocation for pension plans, optimizing multinational financial flows at a global drug company, expanding telecommunication infrastructure at a regional Bell, configuring satellite constellations for NASA, and scheduling physicians for an HMO.
Tim holds undergraduate degrees in mathematics and chemical engineering - and is a candidate for a PhD in operations research - from MIT. He has taught operations strategy, operations management, and business statistics at the University of Colorado.
Meredith Startz
Analyst
Meredith holds a BA with distinction in economics and political science from Yale University. At Yale, Meredith worked as a research assistant to Professor Jeremy Seekings at the Yale Center for International and Area Studies on economic development and policy issues. She also served as the president of the Yale Political Union, was a National Merit Scholar, and was valedictorian of her high school class.
Prior to joining Redstone, Meredith worked at the Centre for Social Science Research at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, where her research focused on educational equality.
Iris Shim
Analyst
Iris received her BA from Yale University in East Asian Studies and Religious Studies. She interned with Goldman Sachs in their investment banking division, where she analyzed potential sell-side opportunities in the Korean market. Iris was awarded a Yale-China Association Public Service Fellowship, which was used to promote human development projects in rural China through the Zigen Fund.
While at Yale, Iris was a Richard Light Fellow and a freshman counselor; she also volunteered in numerous service organizations.
Molly Tokaz
Analyst
Molly holds a BA from Stanford University in Economics and in Comparative Literature. While at Stanford, Molly conducted research for Dr. Pavel Podvig at the Center for International Security and Cooperation, served on the Judicial Panel, and was a member of the varsity lightweight crew.
Prior to joining Redstone, Molly interned at the U.S. Office of Management and Budget as the desk officer responsible for cost-benefit analysis of federal regulations for three Federal agencies: FERC, the NRC, and the DOE.
Molly also studied at Cambridge University and the University of Barcelona and is fluent in Spanish and French.
Jason Blau
Analyst
Jason holds a BA from Yale University in Political Economics, specializing in development studies. His thesis analyzed regulatory schemes to balance economic growth and environmental protection in Chile, where he spent the summer as a Bates Fellow.
At Yale, Jason served as an officer of the Yale Debate Association and was a semifinalist in the World Universities Debating Championship. Jason is a native of Chicago, an Eagle Scout, and is proficient in Spanish.
Lorraine McCloud
Administrator
Lorraine is responsible for administration at Redstone, including office management, travel, and accounting. She is a career administrator with extensive experience, and is the lead person at Redstone for everything associated with our office and operations.
A native of Washington, Lorraine is now a confirmed Coloradan. She is married with two adult children, and can be found riding her Harley Davidson on the back roads of the West in her free time.
